Rapid Updates -
to help us get you information quickly, please make sure that you have
activated your GMU Email account. To do this, go to the main university
web site (http://www.gmu.edu/) and, on the home page you will find a
drop down menu list, with the first item "Activate Mason Email". This
will take you through the procedure to activate your account. You may
always forward your GMU Email to your preferred provider, but PLEASE
make sure you empty your GMU account regularly as it fills up quickly.
Many faculty use the GMU Email accounts to distribute course material,
and this will cause your GMU account to overflow if you do not clear it
regularly.
Non-Degree to Degree Status Change -
To graduate with a master's degree from
George Mason University, as well as satisfying the core & elective
elements of the program and maintaining a GPA of 3.000 minimum, it is
essential that a student complete a minimum of 18 credit hours while in
regular master's status at George Mason University. Thus, a student may
transfer in no more than 12 credit hours worth of courses from whatever
source to make the total credit hours a minimum of 30 credit hours. It
is therefore very important that all students who entered the program in
non-degree status transfer to regular status before they exceed the 12
credit hours permitted to transfer over. The transfer to regular status
MUST take place BEFORE the semester when the 12 credit hour limit will
be exceeded. The 12 credit hour maximum includes ALL courses a student
intends to transfer in FROM WHATEVER SOURCE (e.g. reserve graduate
courses taken at George Mason University while in undergraduate status,
graduate courses from another university, and non-degree courses).
